SSL CERTIFICATE

SSL certificate

Sectigo DV

This tutorial will help you through the Sectigo DV SSL issuance and installation process for Static Hosting and Linux Hosting.

1

The SectigoDV SSL Certificate is installed in 3 steps. The first is that of EMISSION.

Once you have acquired your SSL certificate, you must activate it from your Amen Customer Area on the products TO ACTIVATE.

2

After clicking on the certificate, you will access a new window to start issuing. The system will ask you to insert a CSR.

If you do not have this code, you are offered to generate one from "our tool"

3

Thereafter, you will have a new window where you will have to fill in the information concerning the domain name you want to protect:

- l'organisation

- locality (city)

- code Pays

- state or province...

Complete all the information and click Generate

4

Once you have completed the form and clicked on Generate to obtain the necessary codes for the show, this is the visual you should have.

5

The system will ask you to save the Private Key. You will need it during installation, so it is very important to keep it.

We advise you to keep it in a Word file or notepad on your computer.

Attention :

"-----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----" and "-----END RSA PRIVATE KEY-----" are part of your private key. You must include them in the backup of this one.

6

The system saves only the private key. So you need to copy the CSR. Again, “----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----” as well as

“-----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----” are part of your CSR.

7

With your CSR copied, you must return to the first Certificate Activation window and paste the code.

After pasting the code, you need to choose the web server type.

This is a purely statistical step: if you don't know what your server type is, you can choose the Apache option.

Then click Verify.

8

After clicking on verify, you will have a new screen with the summary of the information used to generate the CSR and the Private Key.

You also have the different validation options:

- Automatic (DNS) - if the domain is managed by Amen

- E-Mail - if the domain is managed by Amen

- DNS - if the domain is managed by another Maintainer

9

Once completed, you will receive an email informing you that the certificate has been issued.

You can now move on to installing your certificate.

2. Installation

The installation of your certificate will depend on your hosting. In the case of Static Hosting, Hosting Linux or a Website, the procedure remains simple. You just need to bring your CRT and your Private Key.

10

You can download your CRT directly from the customer area. To do this, you can click on the SSL certificate then on the Your SSL Certificate section, the private key is generated when issuing with the CSR. (If you did not register the Private Key during the first step of issuing the certificate, you must reissue the private key to reissue the keys.) Several Customers find it difficult to open and copy the CRT, since it is downloaded directly in certificate format and not a text file.

11

- Trick -

As mentioned in the certificate issuance part, you can save your code as text file. To do this, use Notepad to open the CRT file and copy the contents into space. If you don't have or don't want to use Notepad , you can opt for Notepad for Windows, or Textedit for MAC. Locate the CRT on the downloaded files folder.

12

Click with the left mouse button and choose the Edit With Notepad option (or with one of the other options proposed previously).

13

After opening the file with your text application, copy the content so that you can paste it later on the corresponding box of the accommodation.

14

When your CRT will be copied, return to your Customer Area to finalize the installation. From the customer area, click on the domain name you want to protect. Then click on the hosting used. In the proposed actions, choose the SSL certificate option.

15

Then click on Add a certificate.

16

You will have a new page with two free fields: - in the first you can enter your CRT - in the second enter your PRIVATE KEY If the codes you entered are correct, click on Continue.

17

Your certificate will be added successfully! Your domain name will therefore be visible in https, but the site will not be redirected by default to the HTTPS version. It will be necessary to go to the last step: that of the redirection.

3. Redirection

Once the certificate has been issued and installed, the redirection to the https version must be forced. For Hosting Linux and Static Space, this redirection is done via .htaccess.

18

The implementation of .htaccess files remains under the full responsibility of the customers, since it involves programming knowledge. Regarding our example domain amen-test.fr, we used the following code to force the redirection to the default https. (image 1) This code was created on a notepad, then saved with the name ".htaccess". (picture 2)

19

This file was uploaded directly to the root of our hosting in the Public/www folder

20

Once htaccess has been implemented on the root of your hosting, the domain name https://amen-test.fr/ is displayed with the default https version. By doing a quick diagnosis of our site, via https://www.whynopadlock.com/ we obtained the following result:

Congratulation !
